Chasewater is home to a number of protected species of animals and plants, and some of the works will need to be completed in a Site of Special Scientific Interest.  So to make sure we protect local wildlife during the works, we’ve carried out loads of surveys. So far we’ve counted bats, fish, white clawed crayfish, great crested newts, sphagnum moss and floating water plantain.

As a result of our surveys, we’ve installed fencing to keep great crested newts away from the works area. We’ve also cleared trees and scrub from areas of land where the works will take place, so that we don’t have to cut down trees during bird nesting season.
