The cold weather continued this week, so it suppressed what we could do but, when the conditions allowed, we’ve progressed with the following.

1. We’ve continued to drill the boreholes in the swamp. We’ve completed 6 out of 18, but we’re hopeful that we’ll finish this part of the work by the end of next week. This will allow our engineers and geologists to plot the composition of the ground at the toe of the dam – and specify the length of the sheet piles.

2. The pumps have arrived and the monitoring equipment is due to arrive on Monday. We’ll start pumping next week in advance of the final fish rescue, some time later this month. The pumps will be located in the canal outlet chamber and will help lower the water of the reservoir to around 142.5m above sea level.

3, Our 20 new site signs have arrived and we have started to erect them at key locations around the reservoir and the park. The signs identify the footpaths that will be open during these works.

4. We’ve continued the design work to the drainage pipe arrangement on Pool Road, adjacent to the properties, and put the detail of the finish of the area around 9-foot pool.

5. And finally, we’re so pleased with the photographs that appeared in the Lichfield Mercury, Lichfield Blog and Express and Star that our engineers are becoming convinced that they can foster a career in modelling should this project not go as well as it should!
