Training & support

We provide members with a wide range of support. Here's just a snapshot below:

Discounted Welcome Host Training

Great customer care is vital to any service business that wants to succeed. To help local tourism businesses provide the best service possible, a member of our team is Welcome Host trained and provides discounted training sessions - we just charge for the costs of the Welcome Host Pack. You can either join one of our regular sessions, or you can contact us and ask us to provide a bespoke session for a group of your staff or volunteers.

At the moment we have no upcoming dates planned, but we are currently collating a ‘register your interest’ list for discount Welcome Host training. When we have enough people interested we will put on the training session.

For more details, to add your name to the list, or to book a group session, please contact emily.waldron@lichfielddc.gov.uk on 01543 308215.

Encouraging and supporting coaches

Lichfield City and district welcomes thousands of coaches every year, and they are a mainstay of our tourism customers.

To help encourage coaches into the city and district we work with tourism providers through the Joint Agency and Marketing Group (JAMWIG). We also host regular familiarisation visits, where we host group organisers, to get a taste of our city and district.

To find out more about our work to encourage and host coaches, or to find out how we can help to encourage coach parties to visit you, please contact aileen.beesley@lichfielddc.gov.uk or call 01543 308210.

Advice and guidance

We can provide advice and guidance on a range of issues - from licensing to funding and more. If you have any queries you need help with, do let us know and we'll see what we can do to help you. We provide regular e-new-shots and e-newsletters to our members to ensure they are aware of key policy developments across the industry.

Please contact the Visit Lichfield team on 01543 308216.

Supporting accommodation providers

Starting up a new accommodation business is a complex process! To help local organisations get it right, we provide visits to new providers to give advice and guidance on things you need to consider. We can also provide you with the information you need to seek accreditation from the AA and other accreditation bodies.

Our tourist information centre also provides a booking service for local accommodation providers.

Please contact emily.waldron@lichfielddc.gov.uk on 01543 308215.

Letters of support - brown on white signs

Tourism signs (white on brown) are intended for essential directional guidance to tourist attractions for traffic.  Staffordshire County Council's Highways Team is responsible for considering and approving all applications for tourism signs. Find out more at: www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/brownonwhite

If you would like a letter of support from the district council to accompany your application, please email our commuications & tourism manager at elizabeth.thatcher@lichfielddc.gov.uk or call 01543 308781.

Special offers scheme

Every month we join forces with local tourist attractions, shops and cafes to offer great offers to over 5,000 Visit Lichfield Special Offers card holders. The scheme is entirely free for card holders and for businesses to take part, and is a great way to raise your profile, boost your visitor numbers, shift stock or just promote yourself locally. To find out more about the scheme and how to get involved please contact aileen.beesley@lichfielddc.gov.uk on 01543 308210.

Statistics

Tourism statistics are vital and can help with applications for funding or support. Over £4 million people visited Lichfield District last year, spent an estimated £133 million pounds and directly supported over 2,300 local jobs. That said, we know that tourism statistics aren’t a fine art, so we create a chart that is easy to compare and contrast, and one that’s easy to adapt to fit your needs. We work with our partners to gather the information, to make sure it’s up to date and correct.
