If you don’t have time, or don’t feel confident enough, to get face to face advice, there’s some great telephone advice lines available:

National Debtline: 0808 808 4000
The helpline that provides free confidential, independent advice on how to deal with debt problems. Calls to this line are free of charge. Lines are open Monday – Friday 9am-9pm, Saturday 9.30am-1pm

Citizens Advice national helpline: 08444 111 444
Calls to this number are charged at five pence per minute from a landline and may cost considerably more from mobile and other phones. Calls should last no more than ten minutes.

Money Advice Service: 0300 500 5000
Monday to Friday – 8am to 6pm (excluding bank holidays)
Calls should cost no more than dialling a 01 or 02 prefix UK wide number. They are included in inclusive mobile and landline minutes. However, if you are worried about the cost of the phone call because you have don’t have a call plan that includes these calls for free, please ask our Money Adviser to call you back.

Debt Advice Foundation: 0800 043 40 50
Debt Advice Foundation is an independent charity that offers free confidential advice. Advisors are available Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday 9am to 5pm and calls are free.

Consumer Credit Counselling Service: 0800 138 1111
A charity giving free debt-counselling sessions (lasting about two hours) in person or by phone. The freephone helpline is open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 2pm on Saturday.
